Los (poezen) kraagje van blouse

Sinds een paar jaar maak ik deel uit van een kledingketting waarbij enorme tassen met kleding gaan rondgaan in een groep van zo'n 30 dames. Als je iets leuk vindt, haal je het uit de tas en je stopt een kledingstuk van jezelf terug. Een miskoop of geschikt voor een 2e ronde, maar bij voorkeur nog in goede staat. Zo vond ik een bruine blouse (en body), helaas net iets te klein, maar wel een mooie halslijn en kraag. Ik zag er een leuk project in en maakte een los kraagje voor onder een trui, met poes!

I found this blue (body) blouse at a local clothing loop I joined a few years ago. I don't know if you're familiar with this concept but the idea is that enormous bags with 20 to 30 garments are passed around in a group of women. If you see something you like, you can keep it, and in return you put in a garment of your own. Unfortunately, the blouse and bodysuit I found in one of those bags was just a little too small for me, but I did like the neckline and collar. With a few alterations it would be perfect for a fake collar blouse!

Stap 1
Bruin is niet echt mijn kleur, maar dat is geen probleem dat een tinnetje paarse verf van Dylan niet kan oplossen. Aan Dylon cold dye voeg je behalve zout ook speciale cold dye fix, toe, zodat de verf goed hecht.

Met een beetje dye heb je zo een nieuwe kleur gefixt!

Brown is not really my colour, but that was easily fixed with this purple Dylan cold dye! To make sure the colour attaches, you need cold dye fix, and of course, some salt. Thankfully, these dye packages always come with clear instructions.

Stap 2
Met de kleur was ik best tevreden! Dus begon ik met de volgende stap: van de blouse een kraagje maken. ik knipte de vorm na van een ander kraagje dat ik al had. Heb je dat niet, houd dan voor de lengte aan dat de kraag nog net onder je borst valt. Voor de wijdte zorg je dat het iets smaller is dan je borstwijdte, zodat het niet in de weg zit bij je armsgaten en armen. Even uitproberen dus!

Next, I used another fake collar with a great fit to cut out the shape. If you don't have one yourself, cut just below your breast and, regarding the width, be sure to keep enough space around your armpits so your arms can move freely.

De randen van het kraagje werkte ik mooi af met de lockmachine. Dat zag er al zo netjes uit dat ik het niet nodig vond nog een extra zoom te stikken. Daarna naaide ik bandjes van zwart elastiek aan het kraagje, hierdoor blijft het onder de arm op zijn plek zitten. Ik maakte het bandje ruim genoeg, want je wilt ook niet dat het trekt.
 

I serged the raw edges and decided not to fold and topstitch the seam since the serged seam already looked quite neat. Then I added elastic straps to keep the collar in place under the arms.  

Stap 3
En dan... ik wilde nog iets leuks doen met de kraag, maar wat? Eerst heb ik een paar dagen wat wilde ideeën door mijn hoofd laten gaan en me online laten inspireren door andere grappige kraagjes. Totdat op een moment een bepaald idee in mijn hoofd vorm begon te krijgen. Ik had ergens applicaties gezien voor kinderen met een voor- en achterkant van dieren. Maar hè, wie zegt dat leuke ideeën alleen voor kinderen zijn? En ik hád nog applicaties van poezen...

I'd planned to add a little extra to the collar, but wasn't sure what... So I spent some time browsing on the internet and letting the ideas flow through my mind. Until a few days later it just popped into my head. I'd seen fun patches for children with fronts and backs of animals somewhere. But who says fun ideas are restricted to children? And I did have a few patches of cats....

Dus ik besloot de poes door te knippen op elke kraag een helft te naaien. Spannend, want toen ik knipte had ik nog geen idee hoe ik de afgeknipte randen wilde afwerken...
Ik heb eerst geprobeerd de randjes te zigzaggen, maar dat werkte niet. Toen greep ik naar een onorthodox, doch effectief middel: nagellak. Werkt ook goed tegen rafels! Ik heb de lak zorgvuldig op de kniprand gedaan en daarna de applicaties op de rand van de kraag gestreken.

So I decided to cut my cat in half and place a half on each collar tip. I struggled a little with the finishing of the cut edges (zig zag didn't work) but then decided to apply some nail polish on the edges. It worked like a charm! To attach the cat I had to iron and press it on the collar.

Voor en na
